STRIVE set to release FIRE August 26

Nashville, Tenn., August 6, 2008 – Piano-driven rock/pop band STRIVE, recently signing with GoDigital Records, a subsidiary of the GoDigital Media Group, launches its first global release, FIRE, Aug. 26. Digital distribution will be handled through GoDigital with physical distribution being handled by CLG Distribution.

Chicago-based STRIVE mixes the arena-friendly style of The Fray with an inspirational message akin to U2 and Switchfoot. The band’s members are genuine in their pursuit of crafting lyrics that are heartfelt and sounds that are uplifting.

“FIRE was written to inspire listeners to live lives which are selfless, seeking to make their communities a better place,” says STRIVE front man Derick Thompson, whose vocal resemblance could be described as akin to Josh Groban. “I’ve found that when I’m full of hope and excited about life, it spills out onto everyone around me. Same is true when I’m lost in my own self-pity, trying to make sense of the difficulty which is life. A choice had to be made whether to write a disc focused on the negatives or positives we all face. FIRE burns brightest when it’s surrounded by darkness. I hope this album burns bright.”

Already sparking success, the band’s first radio single, “Smallest Things,” has been downloaded around the globe by over 200 radio stations, 65 television networks and 80 other press outlets in 48 countries. Broadcast outlets wishing to download a review copy of “Smallest Things” can go to http://www.strivefans.com/st.html.

In addition to its first radio single success, four additional songs from the album, “Better Way,” “Away From Here,” “Leave With Me” and “Nothing’s Impossible,” have been licensed for MTV’s The Real World and E!: Entertainment Television’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians. STRIVE’s “Nothing’s Impossible” is also a top 10 hit on the highly ranked indie outlet Our Stage in its Pop music category (www.ourstage.com). The band further placed No. 14 on the myCCM top 100 artists of 2007, and Atomic Design Laboratory has licensed STRIVE music for the company’s Tribulation Knights Christian adventure video game (LINK).

Asked about the cross-section of interest in its music, Derick says, “We want to inspire people to find out what they are passionate about, and then use those passions to make the world a better place. If the lyrics and melodies touch you, it’s less important what musical genre it comes from.”

Touring extensively in the US, STRIVE also travels internationally with extended tours in Brazil and Russia. Derick recounts, “The most memorable gig we have ever played was to 1,500 orphan kids in a rural city on the outskirts of Moscow. The looks on those kids’ faces are what STRIVE is all about.” The show was a part of STRIVE’s participation in a 21-day tour throughout Russia for AIDS awareness.

Romeo Miller Named One of the Top 25 Fittest Men in America

LOS ANGELES, CA–(Marketwire - June 13, 2008) - Eighteen-year-old athlete and entertainer Romeo Miller has been named one of the top 25 fittest men in America by Men’s Fitness Magazine. The June/July 2008 issue, currently on newsstands, ranks the teen titan among other fit celebrities including Tiger Woods, Will Smith, Brady Quinn, Dwight Howard, and Ryan Sheckler. The heartthrob is also one of America’s most eligible bachelors.

No longer ‘Lil, the 6-foot, 175-pound point guard for USC is all abs and muscle. He has been spending a lot of time in the gym improving his physique in preparation for hitting the court for the Trojans in the fall of 2008.

“People see my body and ask me what I do to work out,” said Miller. “I play a lot of basketball so I’m constantly dribbling and running up the court. I take a basketball with me everywhere I go!”

Miller’s USC Strength Workout:

-- 5 sets of 20 push-ups
-- 3 sets of 80 sit-ups
-- 3 sets bench press every other day
-- 3 sets of bicep curls every other day

The 6-Foot, 175-pound USC point guard diet:

-- Fruits and vegetables
-- Fresh juices
-- Fish and Chicken

It is clear that Miller’s hard work in the gym and on the court has paid off as a result of being named one of the Top 25 Fittest Men in America. The honor student looks forward to educating others on the importance of staying fit and eating right and through his cartoon & book character, Gee Gee the Giraffe, also hopes to help kids avoid childhood obesity.

When Miller isn’t in the gym or on the court he can be found in the studio or on set. His latest song, “Get Low Wit It,” features Akon and is the first single off his upcoming album “High School Romance.” Miller also stars in the new horror film “The Pig People,” which is about the 18th century Louisiana myth surrounding fearsome, half-human, half-swine “pig people.”

Presenting The Coydogs!

“Brooklyn doesn’t seem to have sunk its hipster fangs into this three-piece, whose Americana remains thoroughly highway-bound. Chunky electric guitars, searching melodies, and hard-luck vocals make this a country-rock not subject to the vagaries of its times.” - Download.com
